RDI Voucher
Companies can utilize an RDI voucher worth up to €10,000 to purchase expert services from universities. The support covers up to 50% of the service’s value. RDI vouchers will be distributed annually until 2027, with a total budget of €100,000 per year. Applying for the RDI voucher is easy.

The RDI service helps you find the most suitable collaboration partners from universities in Turku.
The research, development, and innovation expertise of the University of Turku, Åbo Akademi, Turku University of Applied Sciences, and Novia University of Applied Sciences is available to you, regardless of your company’s location. The RDI voucher can be used for:
- Research and feasibility projects (e.g., related to product development, validation, or marketing)
- Analysis and measurement services (utilizing the diverse infrastructure of universities)
- Project application preparation (using university expertise for funding applications)
- Theses (commissioned work from universities)
How to Apply for an RDI Voucher
Apply for an RDI voucher by completing the application form. Please note that before filling out the application, the company and the university must have discussed the project’s content, costs, and schedule. The application must be submitted before the project officially starts. The funds allocated for RDI vouchers for 2024 have been fully utilized. The voucher criteria are being updated, and new terms will be announced in January 2025. The next application round is expected to open in February 2025.
- The company must be an SME (annual turnover of up to €50 million and a maximum of 250 employees) or a micro-enterprise.
- The company can be located anywhere in Finland.
- The collaboration project must be carried out with one or more of the following universities: University of Turku, Åbo Akademi, Turku University of Applied Sciences, or Novia University of Applied Sciences.
- The voucher is worth up to €10,000 per project (limit: one voucher per company per year).
- The voucher’s funding share is up to 50% of the project’s total cost.
- If the project involves two or more companies, a “bonus voucher” can be awarded (with companies maintaining at least a 50% self-financing share).
- The voucher is considered de minimis aid, and the company is responsible for reporting the support received.
- The voucher is always paid directly to the university, making it suitable only for projects where the company purchases a service from the university.
- The voucher primarily funds new initiatives between companies and universities.
