India has emerged as one of the world’s most dynamic economies, and its importance as a trading partner for Finland is rapidly increasing. Business Turku and the Enterprise Europe Network invite you to a timely market briefing focusing on India’s economic outlook, business culture and the opportunities available for Finnish companies.

India is the world’s most populous country and one of the fastestgrowing major economies. In recent years, its GDP growth has been around 6–7 percent, and the country has become a global centre for manufacturing, technology and services. India’s economic expansion is driven by massive investments in infrastructure, digitalisation and the green transition; a rapidly growing middle class and consumer market; a strong startup ecosystem and technological expertise; as well as political stability and the gradual opening of the economy.

Trade between Finland and India has grown steadily, and Finnish companies enjoy a strong reputation in India, particularly in technology, education, energy solutions, health technology and industrial innovation.

The EU–India Free Trade Agreement, which entered into force in January 2026, marks a significant turning point for Finnish exports. The agreement gradually removes tariffs on most EU–India trade, improves price competitiveness for Finnish companies, facilitates the export of industrial products, machinery and technological solutions, clarifies regulations and reduces trade barriers, and strengthens conditions for investments and partnerships.

India therefore offers both scale and depth in value chains, but the market also requires an understanding of local business practices, decisionmaking processes and sales culture. These are the themes this event will address.
