Startups in the Turku region once again have the opportunity to influence the area’s development by participating in the annual startup survey.
Now conducted for the third time, the survey has become a regular part of monitoring and developing the region’s innovation activities.
– Turku region is now seriously rolling up its sleeves to develop the startup and growth company community. It’s important for companies to participate in the survey – it’s a direct way to influence where resources are allocated and what kinds of services we develop, emphasizes Vesa Palander, Director of Economic Development for the City of Turku.
The annual monitoring provides valuable long-term comparative data on the startup ecosystem and supports the development of services that better meet the needs of companies.
– This survey is a unique opportunity to highlight the perspectives of startups. It helps us better identify the strengths and areas for development in the ecosystem, says Elias Savonlahti, Coordinator at Business Turku.
Palander stresses that a thriving startup ecosystem significantly contributes to the overall growth of the Turku region.
Data will be collected from startups in the Turku region through an email survey and phone interviews during May and June. The survey report will be published in autumn 2025 and is carried out by the Tampere Startup Association.
In the second Turku region startup survey conducted in 2024, 105 active startups were identified in the area. Of these, 61 percent were already generating revenue – proportionally more than in the comparison cities of Oulu and Tampere. The largest sectors were software and business services (33%), healthcare and health technology (18%), and the gaming industry (11%).
