Green Tech Business & Innovation Hub

Duration: 01.10.2024 – 31.01.2027
Project partners: None
Funding: Regional Council of Uusimaa
Summary: The project promotes the development of green transition-based business in the Turku region. The green transition is a strong state of will and strategy of the European Union and Finland, through which it is aimed to simultaneously promote both the economic growth and competitiveness of the EU area, and ecologically and socially sustainable development. The green transition creates new technology that accelerates the transition away from fossil energy and fossil linear industrial production. The actions contribute to mitigating climate change, more resource-wise use of virgin raw materials, and reducing the loss of biodiversity. At the same time, new expertise is developed that is also in demand elsewhere in the world. This expertise improves the competitiveness of the Finnish export industry.
The project aims to build an active green transition innovation hub, the “Green Tech Business & Innovation Hub”, in the Turku Science Park area. The Hub acts as a growth platform for green transition business, where companies have all the tools they need for growth at their fingertips, such as network partners, help in finding suitable premises, and identifying growth financing opportunities. The long-term goal is to support the scaling of companies to an industrial scale in the Turku region and in Finland, and to attract green transition investments and business to the Turku region.
The project will map out premises in the Turku campus area that are suitable for cooperation between green transition and life science companies. In addition, the project will develop a bio and circular economy network and strengthen other green transition networks. Companies will be supported in cooperation with universities and RDI projects will be enabled. In addition, the goal is to meet the growth needs of companies through finance and internationalization advice.
