The 2025 WTC Turku Internationalization Award has been awarded to Finnfoam Group, a family-owned company from Salo that has boldly expanded and developed its operations worldwide, even during challenging times in the construction industry. The company’s recent investments in Sweden, Lithuania, and Germany will significantly increase its production capacity.
WTC Turku grants the Internationalization Award annually to a Southwest Finland–based company that has succeeded in international markets, made a notable contribution to the region’s economic growth, and maintained Finnish ownership.
For more than 40 years, Finnfoam Group has developed the most advanced insulation solutions on the market, helping to reduce the carbon footprint of construction and building use across the Baltic Sea region. The company has expanded internationally with determination, continuing its growth even in challenging conditions for the construction sector.
– Finnfoam Group is a significant employer and economic driver in Southwest Finland and across Europe. Their logo can be seen on numerous construction sites around the world. The company’s strengths include innovative products that suit international markets, continuous product development, and expansion into new regions. Finnfoam also operates responsibly, taking environmental considerations into account and utilizing production side streams, says Jari Rastas, Chair of the WTC Turku Board.

Despite its international growth, Finnfoam Group remains owned by its founding family, with the group’s headquarters and product development unit located in Salo.
– It feels good that our internationalization efforts are being recognized. There is a lot of talk about how important companies and small entrepreneurs are to Finland. Such acknowledgements increase appreciation for the work we do, says CEO Henri Nieminen.
In 2024, Finnfoam Group’s turnover exceeded 180 million euros, two-thirds of which came from outside Finland. The company operates factories in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, and Spain, employing nearly 400 people in total.
Snow-protection mats emerge as a new international spearhead
Finnfoam opened its first international production facility in Lithuania in 2011, and since then the company has grown strongly throughout the Baltic Sea region. In 2025, Finnfoam announced new production lines to be built in Lithuania and Sweden, to be completed in 2026. In addition, Warmotech, part of the Finnfoam Group, invested more than ten million euros in Germany this year by purchasing a competitor’s factory.
– Our global demand is growing rapidly, and logistically we could no longer expand profitably into markets such as Sweden and Norway from Finland alone. There simply isn’t enough space on the ships anymore, Nieminen says with a laugh.
Finnfoam also manufactures snow-protection mats for its rapidly internationalizing sister company, the Finnish firm Snow Secure. Snow Secure specializes in snow preservation, and its largest market area is North America, where the company received TIME magazine’s Innovation of the Year award in autumn 2025.
– Snow-protection mats are currently one of our spearhead products that take us across oceans. We have established a strong foothold in Canada and the U.S., and we are working to open new markets as well. Snow Secure’s operations demonstrate that Finnfoam is not just a product, it is a service, Nieminen explains.
