Project in a nutshell: The environmental impact of information and communication technologies will increase as society digitalizes. While digitalisation has a positive impact on CO2 emissions, the ICT sector must also take into account carbon-neutral targets. This project develops the life cycle environmental impact assessment of ICT system procurement (incl. software and hardware components) by creating clear indicators and criteria for predicting and monitoring the environmental impact during procurement, ICT system development and operation. Through public procurement, the project aims to influence the ability and willingness of ICT companies in particular to produce greener solutions.

Duties of Turku Science Park Ltd.: The role of Turku Science Park Ltd. is to implement company interviews to assess the companies’ competence and initial situation, and to create a sustainable ICT competence center in the area.
