Welcome to the first day of Turku Tech Week! Turku’s technology celebration week kicks off with a high-level opening event and a finance-focused matchmaking session. At the Turku Tech Week opening event, you will hear where we currently stand in leveraging artificial intelligence. Different perspectives on the topic will deepen your understanding of the current landscape, while also providing concrete support and insights into using AI as an accelerator for business growth.

Nico Salmela, AI Finland

Nico Salmela works at AI Finland, strengthening the Finnish AI ecosystem. He is responsible for coordinating the national AI 1000 – Growth through Artificial Intelligence training programme and AI-related funding instruments. Previously, Nico has worked on projects related to high-performance computing, data and AI, EU projects, and technology legislation.

9:30 Compute to Impact – A Flagship Programme for AI Innovations
Vilja Hannula, AMD Silo AI

Vilja Hannula is responsible for the Compute to Impact programme at AMD Silo AI. The aim of the Compute to Impact project is to promote AI innovations and skills development, and to improve companies’ competitiveness by coordinating research, infrastructure development and industrial collaboration within Finland’s ecosystem. The programme brings together key AI ecosystem players and develops ambitious projects that attract top talent to Finland.

Monttu Ventures – a student-led development company investing in Turku-based and R2B startups – will share insights from its recently announced funding round following the Grow Matchmaking event, addressing both startups and potential new investors.

We will also hear from Jussi Pyysalo, who has previously led R2B startups and now works at Business Turku. He will discuss the importance of R2B startups for Finland and the upcoming collaboration between Monttu Ventures and Business Turku.
