September’s event will be held on 16 September at 9–10 via remote connection. The climate coffee break will discuss sustainable logistics and Scope 3 emissions, which logistics is often included in when calculating emissions.
Sustainable logistics is a key part of corporate responsibility, as most emissions are generated in supply chains, i.e., Scope 3 emissions. These include, for example, the impacts of raw material transport, distribution, and subcontracting. Managing these emissions is challenging, as they are generated outside the company’s own operations. Nevertheless, reducing these emissions offers significant opportunities to reduce climate impact, improve cost efficiency, and gain a competitive advantage. At the same time, the transport emissions sector is also one of the city’s biggest challenges in achieving carbon neutrality.
At the September climate coffee break on 16 Sept at 9–10, we will examine Turku’s sustainable urban logistics plan, hear how to achieve more sustainable logistics through measurement and knowledge-based management, and how companies can reduce their Scope 3 emissions.
Program:
- Turku’s sustainable urban logistics plan, Pirkka Pajumäki, City of Turku
- Towards more sustainable logistics through measurement and knowledge-based management, Jussi Laaksonen, Wiima Logistics Oy
- Scope 3 emission reductions, Katri Järvinen-Wilén, Teleste Oyj
